Dentsply Protaper Retreatment Files

– The Dentsply Protaper Retreatment Files are designed to be used in sequence to remove filling materials, such as gutta-percha, carrier-based obturators and paste fillers
– Protaper Retreatment files have been manufactured to remove filling material before canal re-shaping
– The D1 has a cutting tip to facilitate initial penetration into the filling material
– The cutting part of these instruments is made of a nickel-titanium alloy
– D2 and D3 both have non-cutting tips and are used to remove material from the mid and apical thirds respectively
– Each handle is no more than 11 mm for better visibility
– They come in a standard packing of 6 units per pack
– Indications:
– These instruments are to be used only in a clinical or hospital environment, by qualified users. Application field: canal unfilling for endodontic retreatment
– Contraindications:
– Do not use to remove resin type pastes
– Do not use the D1 file around a canal curvature
– Warnings:
– This product contains Nickel and should not be used for individuals with known allergic sensitivity to this metal
– ProTaper retreatment files are used to unfill root canals filled with gutta percha points, Thermafil obturators or, eugenol based soluble paste. They can’t be used to unfill resine type paste.
– Precautions:
– Multiple use disinfection and resterilization cycles may lead to increased risk of file separation
– These instruments should not be immersed in a sodium hypochlorite solution
– Instrument decontamination: strictly follow decontamination instructions from the manufacturer
– Use in a constant rotation speed of 500 rpm for removing gutta percha or Thermafil obturators
– Use in a constant rotation speed of 250 – 300 rpm for removing zinc oxide – eugenol based soluble paste
